I bought it from the brother of a co-worker. It’s about 13 years old, but in immaculate condition. I rode home by what will be my usual commute route (largely bike path) and it took around half an hour not hurrying too much.

The bike’s a Cannondale 3.0 frame (rigid) in a beautiful gloss red, Deore LX cantilever brakes (which I’m thinking I’ll upgrade to V-brakes), and Deore XT for the rest of the components (other than the pedals which are Suntour XC Pro. It has a Softride suspension stem, which I think I’ll replace with a standard Bontrager stem. And stiffer grips. A rack and panniers will complete the commuter package, possibly with some fenders once things turn wet.
